Stress Management & Burn-out Prevention in work environments

Statistics from the HSE (Health & Safety Executive) show that stress is the cause of as much as 40% of all work-related sickness. Burn-out is included in the 11th Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) as an occupational phenomenon. It is not classified as a medical condition or an illness itself, but prolonged periods of stress can cause a wide range of illnesses, both mental and physiological. These include depression, anxiety, heart disease, insomnia & eczema.*

It is more important for companies to implement preventative measures to reduce stress at the workspace, which may result in a loss of workdays and employees. It is important to raise awareness of mental health in work environments.

The training and program for work & organisational environments include methods, techniques and exercises of three dimensions of stress management.
We will focus on the instrumental, mental/cognitive and regenerative-palliative stress competence.

Regenerative-palliative stress competence
are physical and active methods that may incorporate movements or breathing exercises to lower the stress level.

  • Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR)
  • Autogenic Training for Relaxation (Level 1)
  • Body Awareness exercises
  • Breathing exercises
  • simple meditation exercises to reduce stress & gain focus
  • Yoga Practice, such as Gentle Flow Yoga, Chair & Restorative Yoga

The focus in instrumental stress competences is to reduce stress in private and occupational routines. Important are structural changes to get a better organization.

Mental/cognitive stress competence

Awareness of inner attitude and thought processes. Understanding of thought patterns to may block and limit us. Exercises and self-reflection on personal limits, thoughts that may limit our performance, work performance and personal goals.
